Samsung is expected to unveil three new smartwatches alongside three new foldables in July, and a fresh leak suggests the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will pack a significant battery life improvement over its predecessor.
According to Sammobile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will feature a 35% larger battery than the original — approximately 784 mAh (likely marketed as 800 mAh). For reference, the original Galaxy Watch Ultra has a 590 mAh battery. Combined with the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, this should translate to noticeably longer runtime between charges.
The report also reveals battery details for the standard Galaxy Watch9 lineup:
- The 40mm Galaxy Watch9 will pack a 382 mAh battery (marketed as 400 mAh) — a 23% increase over the Galaxy Watch8’s 325 mAh
- The 44mm variant is expected to remain the same at 435 mAh
Recent reports suggest the Galaxy Watch9 won’t bring charging speed improvements. Whether that applies to the Watch Ultra 2 as well remains to be seen.
