Acer reveals new smartphone with rear display

Acer has introduced the Sospiro A15, an entry-level smartphone that stands out with a secondary display on its back. Aimed primarily at the Latin American market, the device brings a unique design twist to the budget segment.

Secondary display and main screen

The phone’s most distinctive feature is its 1.88-inch TFT rear display with a resolution of 240 x 284 pixels. This secondary screen can show notifications, provide music controls, and serve as a viewfinder for the rear camera. Up front, the Acer Sospiro A15 sports a 6.67-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance and storage

Under the hood, the Sospiro A15 is powered by the entry-level Unisoc T615 chipset, which does not support 5G connectivity. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and users can expand storage by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Camera and battery

The smartphone features a 64MP rear camera and a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. A 5,000mAh battery keeps the phone running, with support for 18W wired charging via USB-C. The device runs Android 16 out of the box.

Additional features

Other notable features include NFC support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, IP64 dust and water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The phone measures 8.35mm in thickness and weighs 206 grams. It is available in orange and blue color options. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
