Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 spotted in the wild running HyperOS 4

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 is coming — that much is clear. And it might arrive sooner rather than later, with multiple rumors pointing to an August 2026 launch window. The device is already certified in China, seemingly ahead of even the Xiaomi 18 series, which is a strong signal for an early release. Unlike the Xiaomi 18 family, the Mix Fold 5 won’t have to wait for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gen 6 chipset. Nearly every source in the industry agrees it will run on Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 SoC — a significant step up from last year’s O1.

Adding fuel to the early-release speculation, several live photos have leaked of what appears to be the Mix Fold 5. The images don’t reveal much, but the device reportedly identifies itself as “lhasa” — the well-known internal codename for the Mix Fold 5. More importantly, the phone in question is running an OS version starting with 4.0, based on Android 17. This aligns perfectly with Xiaomi’s long-standing tradition of pairing a major HyperOS release with a major Android version upgrade. The visual elements visible in the photos also appear very similar to the current HyperOS design language, with a few tweaks that seem to embrace the glass-infused styling Android 17 introduces across the ecosystem.

As for other rumored specs, recent sources suggest the Mix Fold 5 could feature a 7.5- to 7.6-inch foldable display with “seamless-crease” technology. Beyond the in-house chipset, expectations include a 200MP primary camera, full water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 6,000 mAh battery with wireless charging support.

Unfortunately, a price point has already surfaced as well — somewhere in the CNY 10,000 range, which translates to roughly $1,400. And that’s just for the domestic Chinese market.
