MediaTek has expanded its Dimensity 9000 series with the launch of the Dimensity 9500s, a high-end octa-core SoC designed for Android tablets and premium mid-range smartphones. Announced in early 2026, the 9500s shares its architecture with the flagship Dimensity 9400+, but makes a few strategic cuts to hit a more accessible price point.
Core Configuration and Performance
The Dimensity 9500s packs a familiar but powerful core layout: one Cortex-X925 prime core clocked up to 3.73 GHz, three Cortex-X4 performance cores up to 3.3 GHz, and four power-efficient Cortex-A720 cores up to 2.4 GHz. It’s the same core configuration found in the Dimensity 9400, but with higher clock speeds that give it a noticeable edge.
Where the 9500s differs from the 9400+ is in two areas: the integrated Immortalis-G925 GPU has one fewer core (MC11 vs. MC12), and the Wi-Fi speed has been capped at 6.5 Gbps. For most users, these cuts will be barely noticeable in everyday use, but they help position this chip at a more attractive price tier.
