For a moment, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro sounded like a genuine “mini Ultra.” Leaks pointed to a Privacy Display feature and a compact 6.47-inch screen, sparking hopes that Samsung was finally giving us a smaller flagship with Ultra-grade chops. But two new reports have poured cold water on that dream.

First, we learned the S27 Pro and Ultra will use different telephoto cameras — dashing the “mini Ultra” theory. Now, a report from Korea’s Money Today confirms another key difference: the chipset.
The Galaxy S27 Pro will ship with an Exynos 2700 processor in every market outside of North America. Only the US (and presumably China) will get a Snapdragon variant. The S27 Ultra, by contrast, will use the latest Snapdragon Elite chip globally. So no — the S27 Pro is not a mini Ultra, no matter how much we might wish it were.
That said, the Exynos 2700 isn’t necessarily bad news. It will be built on Samsung’s SF2P node, which promises a 26% power reduction and 15% higher clock speeds compared to the Exynos 2600’s SF2 node. Samsung is also reportedly moving away from the traditional stacked DRAM-on-chip design in favor of a side-by-side architecture, which should improve heat dissipation.
Early benchmarks didn’t wow anyone, but it’s worth noting that test sample ran at very low clock speeds — the prime core barely hit 2.88 GHz, while the Exynos 2700’s ARM C2 Ultra core is expected to reach up to 4.2 GHz. So take those early numbers with a grain of salt.
For what it’s worth, the standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ are also expected to use the Exynos 2700 in most markets, with North America (and likely China) getting the Snapdragon versions. Samsung’s chip strategy remains as regional as ever.
