Today Meta is launching Facebook Verified, a free badge that confirms there’s a real person behind an account. To get the badge, you’ll need to go through a selfie-based verification process — record a selfie video that Meta checks against your existing profile photos to confirm a match. The entire process should take just a few minutes.
Once verified, the badge will initially appear on Facebook Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and on your profile. Eventually, it’ll also show up in Feed posts. Importantly, Meta notes that the badge doesn’t mean it “endorses the user or guarantees their trustworthiness” — it simply confirms a real person is behind the account.
Facebook Verified is available to eligible users aged 18 and above who are in good standing with the platform’s Community Standards — particularly rules against fraud, scams, and deceptive practices — and who show no signs of “inauthentic behavior.” The feature is not available for Pages or ProMode accounts at launch.
The rollout is happening in phases, starting in select markets before expanding globally.
