3C database reveals the biggest iPhone batteries yet
Fresh regulatory filings in China’s 3C database have revealed the battery capacities for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max — and the numbers are significantly higher than what earlier rumors suggested.
Spotted by tipster Digital Chat Station, the listings point to Apple’s most substantial battery upgrades in years.
iPhone 18 Pro Max battery capacity
The eSIM-only model of the iPhone 18 Pro Max will pack a 5,567 mAh battery, while the physical SIM variant comes in at 5,391 mAh. That’s a jump of 479 mAh and 568 mAh respectively over the iPhone 17 Pro Max — a meaningful increase that should translate to noticeably longer battery life.

The smaller iPhone 18 Pro sees similar gains. Its eSIM version is listed at 4,288 mAh, compared to 4,252 mAh in the iPhone 17 Pro. The physical SIM model measures 4,056 mAh, up from 3,998 mAh in its predecessor.
These numbers contradict an earlier rumor that claimed the Pro Max would top out at 5,425 mAh (eSIM) and 5,235 mAh (physical SIM). The 3C database figures suggest Apple has gone even further with its battery engineering for the 18th-generation Pro models.
What this means
Apple typically sells eSIM-only iPhones in the United States, while markets like China receive models with physical SIM trays. The new battery capacities represent the highest ever seen in an iPhone Pro lineup, a welcome trend as smartphone users increasingly demand all-day endurance for power-hungry apps, AI features, and high-refresh-rate displays.
With the iPhone 18 series expected to launch this fall, these regulatory filings offer one of the first concrete hardware confirmations for Apple’s next flagship generation.
