Vivo is preparing to expand its X series smartphone lineup with the upcoming X500 family, as evidenced by recent IMEI database listings from the GSM Association.
The company has confirmed that at least three variants will comprise the X500 series: the standard X500, the X500 Pro, and the X500e. This naming continues Vivo’s pattern while notably skipping the X400 series due to tetraphobia (the aversion to the number 4 in some Asian cultures).
The X500 series represents the successor to last year’s X300 lineup, with the X500 replacing the X300 and the X500 Pro taking over from the X300 Pro. The X500e variant is particularly interesting as there was no corresponding X300e model in the previous generation, leaving its exact positioning somewhat unclear.
Rumored specifications suggest the X500 series will feature impressive display options, with the standard model potentially offering a 6.4-inch screen and the Pro variant stepping up to a 6.9-inch display. Camera capabilities appear to be a major focus, with reports indicating a 50MP LOFIC (Low Light Full Integration Capability) primary sensor and an extraordinary 200MP periscope telephoto lens – a specification that would set new benchmarks for smartphone photography if realized.
Battery life also looks promising, with leaks suggesting all three models could pack 7,000mAh or larger cells, addressing one of the most common consumer concerns about smartphone endurance.
Pricing information from affiliate partners shows significant variation across models and regions. The standard X500 with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM is listed around €847, while the premium X500 Pro configuration with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM commands prices starting at approximately €1,189 in Europe and reaching much higher levels in certain Asian markets.
As Vivo continues to push boundaries in camera technology and battery capacity, the X500 series appears positioned to compete strongly in the premium smartphone segment when officially launched.
