One UI 8 started as the Android 16-based update for the Galaxy S25 series and select older flagships. It brought a refreshed design language, improved customization options, and better integration with Samsung’s ecosystem of devices.
One UI 8.5 arrived shortly after as a mid-cycle refresh, adding new Galaxy AI features, enhanced multitasking for foldable devices, and improvements to the camera app interface. It was pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
One UI 9 is the latest iteration, based on Android 17. It introduces a completely redesigned quick settings panel, deeper AI integration across system apps, and significant performance optimizations. The beta is currently available for the Galaxy S26 series, with a stable release expected later this year.
If you own a Galaxy S25 or newer, you can expect to receive One UI 9. Older devices may stop at One UI 8.5 depending on their hardware capabilities and Samsung’s update policy.
