First impressions of Oppo’s latest wireless earbuds
We’ve got the new Oppo Enco Air5 (and Air5s) in the office, and after spending some time with them, here’s what stands out.
The Enco Air5 is an in-ear wireless earbud with active noise cancellation that sits just below the Air5 Pro in Oppo’s lineup. But here’s the interesting part: both models share the same 12mm dynamic driver and triple-microphone array. The main differentiator? The Pro supports LHDC 5.0 and offers slide gestures for volume control.
Design and fit
The Air5 ships in either Mist White or Midnight Black, with three sizes of silicone eartips included. Fit is comfortable and secure—if you’re partial to in-ear buds, these sit nicely without feeling intrusive. The touch controls support play/pause and ANC toggle, but sliding gestures are absent on this model, which is a notable omission given both the Pro and Air5s offer them.
Sound quality and battery life
Sound quality is impressive for the price range. There’s plenty of volume, strong treble, and well-defined mids. Out of the box, bass lacks some punch, but that’s often adjustable via EQ settings. Active noise cancellation performs well, effectively reducing ambient noise in typical environments.
Battery life is a standout feature: up to 54 hours total from the 530mAh charging case, with an additional 62mAh per bud. The claimed 53dB of noise cancellation is among the highest in this segment.
The bottom line
The Enco Air5 delivers strong ANC, excellent battery life, and solid sound quality at what’s expected to be a competitive price. The missing slide gestures are a minor drawback, but for most users, the core experience will be hard to beat at this level.
