Meta has announced a new line of smart glasses simply called Meta Glasses, starting at $299. Unlike its previous collaborations with Ray-Ban and Oakley, these glasses are manufactured in partnership with EssilorLuxottica but carry no partner branding. They represent Meta’s most accessible wearable to date.
Design and pricing
The Meta Glasses are launching in multiple countries across a range of color and lens combinations. They do not include a display but come equipped with a camera and built-in speakers. A dedicated button triggers the Meta AI assistant by default, though users can customize it to launch a specific feature instead.
Battery life is rated at over eight hours, and the accompanying charging case provides up to 40 hours of additional usage on the go.
Available styles
The lineup includes three frame designs. The Meta Adventurer features a rectangular shape available in standard and large sizes. The Meta Fury offers a boxier frame reminiscent of popular men’s eyewear styles. The premium option is Meta Glasses by Kylie – a slim oval frame designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner.
AI features and language support
The Meta AI assistant can answer questions about anything from sports scores to local restaurant recommendations, recognize what you are looking at, and help organize your daily schedule. Meta has announced that the glasses will soon support a pedestrian navigation feature with turn-by-turn walking directions.
Live translation is also expanding, with 14 new languages being added including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and Korean.
Market context
Meta and EssilorLuxottica together command an estimated 80% of the smart glasses market, according to Counterpoint Research. The launch comes a week after Snap unveiled its long-awaited Spectacles at a significantly higher $2,195 price point, positioning Meta’s offering as the more accessible alternative in the wearable space.
