At Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 in London, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, expanding the company’s vision for digital health on the wrist. Samsung Newsroom got an early look at both wearables, from the rugged Ultra2 built for extreme environments to the Watch9 designed for daily wellness management.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2: Built for explorers
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is Samsung’s most capable wearable yet, designed for users who push their bodies in demanding conditions. Available in a single 47mm size, it features a titanium grade 4 case and a sapphire crystal display rated at an industry-leading 5,000 nits of peak brightness—making it readable even in direct sunlight.
The Ultra2 is now 12% thinner than its predecessor despite packing a 35% larger battery, rated for up to 60 hours of typical usage. It carries 10ATM water resistance, IP69K dust protection, and is dive-rated for recreational and professional use.
New software features include a professional diving mode developed in partnership with Mares, trail running tracking with route guidance, hydration alerts, and a comprehensive set of health monitoring tools. The watch runs Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch, powered by the Snapdragon Wearable Elite chipset.
Galaxy Watch9: Everyday health companion
The Galaxy Watch9 maintains the cushion-shaped case introduced with the Watch8 but upgrades the internals significantly. Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, it features a 20% larger battery than its predecessor, delivering approximately two days of mixed use on a single charge.
Samsung has introduced several new health metrics: Heart Health Rating provides an overall cardiovascular assessment; Daily Cardio Load tracks exertion trends over time; and Fitness Index combines multiple metrics into a single actionable score. Sleep apnea detection has also been improved with more accurate sensors and refined algorithms.
The Watch9 starts at $379, while the Watch Ultra2 starts at $699. Both are available for pre-order now with general availability beginning later this month.
