After releasing the first developer-focused Android 17 beta back in February 2026, Google is about to ship the stable version. The final release is expected to reach eligible smartphones before the end of June — aligning with last year’s timeline for Android 16.
Google’s Pixel devices will naturally be first in line. But for Samsung users, the eligible list is extensive, thanks to the company’s promise of four years of OS upgrades. With Android 17, eligible Samsung devices will also graduate to One UI 9, whose beta launched earlier in May.
Note that Samsung rolls out updates in phases. Flagship devices get first priority, while mid-range and entry-level phones may wait several months.
Galaxy S Series and Z Series
The oldest S-series devices eligible for Android 17 (One UI 9) are the Galaxy S23 lineup from 2023: Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE. The 2024 models — S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE — are also included. For 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge joins the S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 FE. And the 2026 flagships — Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra — will get the update as well.
On the foldable side, eligible devices start with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 from 2023, and extend through the Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold Special Edition (2024), the Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE (2025), and the latest Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and Z TriFold (2026).
Mid-Range and Budget Devices
A Series: Galaxy A24, A34, A54, A15, A25, A35, A55, A06, A16, A26, A36, A56, A07, A17, A37, and A57.
M Series: Galaxy M15, M35, M55, M07, M16, M36, M56, M17e, and M17.
F Series: Galaxy F06, F07, F15, F16, F17, F34, F35, F36, F54, F55, F56, and F70e.
What to Expect
Android 17 brings improved security features, AirDrop compatibility, enhanced desktop mode, and Gemini Intelligence integration. For Samsung users, the update to One UI 9 will layer Samsung’s custom features on top — so even if you’re on an older flagship like the S23 series, you’re getting a genuinely fresh experience.
