The Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch is gaining powerful new features with a free firmware update. Firmware version 3.50.4.1 introduces enhanced navigation options and a normalized pace metric for athletes, while the Balance 2 also benefits from additional refinements across fitness tracking and system performance.
The most prominent feature in the changelog is the new Normalized Pace metric, which factors in physiological data and elevation changes to translate performance on hilly terrain into a flat-route equivalent. This should make pacing easier and improve comparability between workouts, giving runners a more accurate picture of their effort level regardless of terrain.
Offline route creation has also been enhanced. Routes can now be planned and recalculated without a web connection, even after deviating from the original path. This is particularly valuable for trail runners and hikers who venture into areas with limited cellular coverage.
Users with multiple Amazfit devices benefit from improved synchronization, which Zepp Health says results in more consistent data across the app. The update also brings refinements for diving, including more accurate depth calculation and better detection of ascents and descents, expanding the watch’s utility for water sports enthusiasts.
Zepp Health continues to push firmware updates to its devices regularly, adding value to hardware long after purchase. The Amazfit Balance 2 remains one of the more affordable options in the smartwatch market that still offers premium health tracking features, including body composition analysis, stress monitoring, and sleep tracking with sleep breathing quality assessment.
The 16.17 MB update is rolling out gradually, so it may take some time to reach all devices globally. Users can check for the update manually in the Zepp app under device settings.
