The OnePlus 16 and iQoo 16 could launch in China as early as September 2026, roughly a month earlier than their predecessors, according to a new leak from reliable industry tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo.
For context, the OnePlus 15 and iQoo 15 launched in China on October 27 and October 20, 2025, respectively. Both were among the first devices to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. An earlier launch cycle for the 16 series would put them in direct competition with Apple’s iPhone 18 lineup, which is also expected to debut in September.
What to expect
While specific specifications haven’t been confirmed, the OnePlus 16 and iQoo 16 are expected to continue the performance-focused approach of their predecessors. Both will likely launch with the next-generation Snapdragon flagship chip (presumably the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6), competing directly with other Android flagships in the fall window.
The earlier launch timeline could give OnePlus and iQoo a strategic advantage, capturing early adopters before the traditional October/November Android flagship rush. It also suggests a potential shift in Qualcomm’s chipset release schedule, as both phones are expected to be among the first to feature Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor.
As with all leaks, launch dates are subject to change. Official announcements from OnePlus and BBK Electronics (iQoo’s parent company) will provide firm dates closer to launch.
