The Trump Mobile saga has taken yet another turn — and this time it’s about your personal data. The company has confirmed to TechCrunch that customer information, including names, phone numbers, home addresses, and email addresses, was exposed on its website.
What Happened?
Trump Mobile’s first smartphone — by all accounts a rebranded version of the HTC U24, originally launched in 2024 — was supposed to start shipping in August or September of last year. That never happened. Shipments are now reportedly forthcoming, but the launch has been overshadowed by a far more serious problem: a data exposure.
The company confirmed that sensitive customer details were left accessible on its website. Trump Mobile says it is currently investigating the exposure and has not yet found any evidence of malicious use of the data.
A Third-Party Connection
According to Trump Mobile spokesperson Chris Walker, the exposure appears to be linked to a third-party platform provider that supports “certain Trump Mobile operations.” That provider has not been named.
The company insists there was no breach of its network, systems, or infrastructure. That framing is doing a lot of heavy lifting, though — because no breach was needed. The customer data was simply sitting out in the open on the company’s own website for anyone to find.
What Happens Next?
Walker says Trump Mobile is now “evaluating whether it needs to notify customers of the exposure of their personal data.” That evaluation comes after the fact — the exposure is already public knowledge, and affected customers deserve clarity about what was visible and for how long.
For a company that has struggled to ship its first product at all, this is a significant reputational blow. Data security isn’t a feature you add after launch; it’s the foundation everything else sits on. Trump Mobile will need to answer hard questions — starting with who was exposed, when the data became accessible, and what the company knew and when.
