Apple WWDC 2026: Everything You Need to Know About the New Siri AI Revolution

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2026 kicks off today, and while this developer-focused event typically doesn’t feature new hardware announcements, there’s plenty of excitement in store. This year’s WWDC is all about software — specifically, a complete reimagining of Siri powered by next-generation artificial intelligence.

A Smarter, More Capable Siri

Siri was once a pioneer among digital assistants, but in recent years it has fallen behind competitors in terms of capabilities. That’s all about to change. Apple has partnered with both Nvidia and Google to rebuild Siri from the ground up with cutting-edge LLM AI at its core.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, here are the headline new features:

  • Access to personal data from apps and Apple services for contextual responses
  • Ability to compose emails using information from messages, contacts, notes, calendar events, and other sources
  • On-screen awareness — Siri will understand what’s currently displayed on your screen
  • Proactive calendar management, including adding events and resolving scheduling conflicts
  • A dedicated Siri app with expanded controls and Shortcut integration
  • Multi-step complex request handling that chains together multiple actions

Google Gemini Integration and Beyond

The revamped Siri will leverage Google’s Gemini AI model — running on Google’s servers rather than Apple’s own. But Apple isn’t putting all its eggs in one basket. The new Siri will also support ChatGPT, Claude, and potentially other AI services. An Extensions feature will allow users to expand Siri’s capabilities even further.

What the New Siri App Looks Like

The dedicated Siri app will feature AI-assisted writing tools with system-wide grammar checking. A redesigned interface will blend search with voice commands. Siri apps will be available across iPhones, iPads, and Macs, with iCloud-synced chat history. The chatbot will work with both typed and spoken instructions.

Rollout Timeline

While these features sound incredible, the new and improved Siri may roll out gradually. Some capabilities might arrive in stages throughout the remainder of 2026.
