Huawei’s foldable laptop journey continues. After the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design in May 2025 and the Ultimate Master Edition a few months later, the 2026 MateBook Fold Ultimate Master Edition is now official in China — headlined by the new Kirin X90 Plus chipset.
The hardware formula remains largely unchanged from last year’s model, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You still get the 18-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED foldable display at 3,296 × 2,472 pixels (4:3 aspect ratio unfolded). Folded, it’s a 13-inch laptop footprint with a 2,472 × 1,648 resolution (3:2) and an 8MP front-facing camera.

The 2026 MateBook Fold Ultimate Master Edition is already on sale through Huawei’s official online store in China. Global availability remains unconfirmed — as with previous foldable MateBooks, this may stay a China-exclusive halo product.
At these prices, the MateBook Fold competes with the ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS ZenBook Fold in the ultra-premium niche. The Kirin X90 Plus gives Huawei silicon independence, but the real question is whether HarmonyOS 6.1’s maturing app ecosystem can make an 18-inch foldable feel like a primary computer rather than an expensive experiment.
