According to a new report from Korea, Samsung is planning to enter a new market very soon. The company is reportedly developing an AI accelerator chip for PCs. Codenamed Gaia, the chip is built on a 4nm process.
It features an optimized NPU architecture designed to deliver more efficient AI computing on PCs. Samsung has allegedly already supplied prototypes of this chip to several unnamed “major clients,” and the company aims to begin mass production next year.
Gaia is geared toward PC Edge AI computing as well as the physical AI market — robots, for example. It is said to deliver impressive performance per watt. No other details are known at this stage, but if this is accurate, we will undoubtedly hear far more about it in the coming months.
