Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the company of using her likeness on TV packaging without permission or compensation. The suit, first reported by Variety, alleges copyright infringement, trademark violation, and unauthorized commercial exploitation.
The dispute centers on a behind-the-scenes photo from Lipa’s 2024 Austin City Limits Festival performance. Samsung allegedly used the image on cardboard TV boxes sold throughout 2025. Lipa’s team discovered the usage around June 2025 and repeatedly demanded Samsung cease. The complaint describes Samsung’s response as “dismissive and callous,” with the packaging reportedly still in circulation.
Lipa owns the copyright to the photo. The lawsuit argues Samsung profited from the false implication of endorsement—citing social media posts from consumers who purchased TVs after seeing her face on the box. This isn’t Samsung’s first legal headache with TVs: in December 2025, Texas AG Ken Paxton sued Samsung and four other manufacturers over alleged ad-targeting spyware.
Samsung has not yet commented publicly. The case underscores a growing tension: brands increasingly blur the line between influencer marketing and unauthorized likeness usage, and celebrities are pushing back.
