If you’ve ever spent ten minutes scrolling endlessly through a chat history trying to find that one specific PDF or a photo from three months ago, WhatsApp has some good news. The messaging giant is expanding its “media hub” to the iPhone, bringing a feature that has already been making life easier for Mac and Web users.
Spotted in the latest beta build (version 26.42.10.74), this new organizational tool acts as a centralized gallery for all your shared content. Instead of hunting through individual conversations, you can head into the app’s settings to find a dedicated space where photos, videos, links, and documents are aggregated in one place.
The interface appears to be designed for efficiency. Users can toggle between a “Recent” tab for quick access to new files and an “All Media” tab for a deeper dive. To keep things tidy, WhatsApp is adding filters for specific media types and allowing users to switch between grid and list views. There is even a “heart” filter, letting you quickly surface items you’ve previously reacted to.
Beyond just viewing, the hub is interactive. From the gallery, you can forward files to other contacts, add reactions, star important items, or jump directly back to the original conversation where the media was shared. Perhaps the most useful addition is the search functionality; the hub can scan captions on photos and videos, as well as links, making it much easier to locate a specific file using keywords.
One detail to keep in mind: this hub seems focused on media you have *received*. Sent items and “view once” disappearing media likely won’t appear here.
As with most beta discoveries, the feature isn’t available to the general public just yet—and some beta testers are still waiting for the toggle to appear. While a wide release date hasn’t been announced, iPhone users likely won’t have to wait much longer for this much-needed quality-of-life update.
