Samsung Pre-Installs Amazon Music on Galaxy Phones — But There’s a Free 3-Month Trial Perk

Samsung Partners with Amazon Music for Pre-Installed App with Free Trial

Samsung US has announced that select Galaxy phones and tablets will now come with the Amazon Music app pre-installed. While bloatware usually draws groans from users, this particular addition comes with a worthwhile silver lining: a free 3-month subscription.

The deal grants users access to Amazon Music Unlimited’s full catalog of over 100 million songs, thousands of podcasts, and even one free Audible audiobook per month. Considering Amazon Music Unlimited typically costs $13 monthly (with only a 1-month free trial), and Audible runs $9 a month on its own, this is a genuinely solid perk for Galaxy buyers.

What You Get With the Deal

  • 3 months free of Amazon Music Unlimited (normally $13/month)
  • One free audiobook from Audible each month
  • Access to 100 million+ songs, many in Ultra HD and Spatial Audio
  • Thousands of podcasts, artist livestreams, and exclusive merch

How to Claim Your Free Trial

Interestingly, you don’t even need to buy a new Galaxy device to take advantage. If you download the Amazon Music app from the Galaxy Store (not the Google Play Store), you should still qualify for the free 3-month trial. Samsung confirmed the app is now available through the Galaxy Store for the first time.

The Bloatware Debate

It’s fair to feel conflicted. On one hand, free stuff is always welcome. On the other, having apps pre-installed whether you want them or not is frustrating — especially on premium devices where every megabyte of storage counts. Samsung’s press release mentions this applies to “millions of select Samsung mobile and tablet devices globally,” though it’s unclear if this is US-only or worldwide.

What Samsung and Amazon Are Saying

Izzet Asayas, Head of CTV & Mobile Business Development at Samsung, framed the partnership as part of Samsung’s ongoing mission to deliver “premium experiences across the Galaxy experience.” Meanwhile, Karolina Joynathsing, Director of Business Development at Amazon Music, emphasized that the pre-installed app puts “world-class audio entertainment in customers’ hands from the very first second.”

Whether you see it as bloatware or a bonus, the free 3-month trial makes this an easier pill to swallow than most pre-installed apps.
