Motorola’s wide Razr Flex hits Geekbench with a surprising chipset

Motorola’s next‑gen wide foldable is finally getting a name, and it’s not the Razr Flex you might have expected. A prototype of the device was run through Geekbench 6.7.1, and the results have now been posted online, confirming the model’s identity and key specifications.

The benchmark run shows the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform – the same chipset that had been rumored for months, though earlier whispers suggested a “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5” variant. Alongside the SoC, the test unit is equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, suggesting that the final retail version could offer even more memory options.

Running Android 17 out of the box, the device posted a single‑core score of 2,669 and a multi‑core score of 8,837. As always with prototype data, those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, especially since they come from an early software build and the Geekbench version itself may differ from later releases.

If the naming convention follows Motorola’s recent North American releases, the handset could land as the “Razr Flex 27” or “Razr Flex 2027,” indicating that the company views this as more than a one‑off experiment and already has a successor in the pipeline.

Further details hinted at by the leak include a 6.92‑inch internal OLED folding panel with a 2364 × 1728 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. The outer cover display measures 4.97 inches, offering a 1140 × 1736 resolution. Imaging duties are expected to be handled by a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra‑wide lens, and dual 32 MP front cameras for selfies and video calls.

While the exact launch date remains unconfirmed, the Geekbench evidence gives us a clearer picture of what to expect: a high‑performance, wide‑form‑factor foldable that blends flagship internals with a sleek, dual‑screen design.

If Motorola indeed decides to bring the Razr Flex to market, it will likely target enthusiasts who want a premium foldable without the hefty price tag of the flagship Z‑Fold series. Early rumors suggest a starting price around $1,200, positioning it between the mid‑range foldables and the ultra‑premium models. The device’s wide aspect ratio could also make it attractive for media consumption, gaming, and multitasking, giving it a niche that bridges the gap between traditional smartphones and larger tablets.
